Grief Ceremony
Co-creating ritual to provide closure
Service Description
We all hold grief-a beloved dying, unable to get pregnant, losing a job, losing a friend... there are many endings happening in our life. With clients I facilitate and help organize a grief ceremony. We will work through the symbols, practices, and meaning making you would like coordinated in your desire to let apart of your life go. Grieving well is a challenge. I believe our society has very little resources for processing grief well and creating spaces of deep meaning of loss in someone's life. Throughout a time of destruction, war, and violence, we are not adequately prepared to hold the amount of loss. A grief ceremony allows us to slow down and intentionally create a way for recognition and closure. I like to think of this service as an alternative to traditional funerals. It is a personalized experience that provides you, your family, or you friends the creative power to make a ceremony that best suits your own relationship to death, your belief systems that are outside of organized religion, and your deep understanding that your soul requires song, fire, togetherness, incense, symbolism, story, to help move the heart closer toward resolve and a greater capacity to hold and relate to the sorrow. Co-creating ceremony for a structured goodbye for the loss using: -Momentos (family photos, rings, necklaces, colars) - Imaginal Revisiting -Complicated Grief Assessment -Tracking Anniversaries of losses -Nature symbols (is their a particular plant or animal that represents the loss) -Coping with situational revisiting It is my firm belief that when we have losed a loved one that the relationship doesn't ends, but rather the relationship is transforms. Developing a ceremony aims to facilitate the transformation of your relationship to the one who has passed. This process is a minimum of 5 sessions, 4 sessions of preparation and a final for the ceremony. Follow up sessions are also an option for me to check in with you regarding how the ceremony and your process has been integrated into your everyday life.
