The Magic of Sandtray

Whether you are old or young, big or small, we all have the capacity to play. In fact, through play we can flow into our imaginations and reveal truths that may not be as accessible through direct verbal expression. 

 

Sandtray therapy is a long practiced play therapy intervention that lets us see the story of our inner landscape. It is a mirror to how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. It can be especially helpful for folks who have challenges accessing how to articulate feelings or describing their experiences. 

 

Sandtray uses miniatures to represent everyday items like cars, beds, doors, and animals or natural items, like sticks, shells, bark, or leaves . There are others that represent fantasy or mythic creatures, like unicorns, dragons, werewolves, and a plethera of other creatures. I also provide clients the opportunity to create their own creatures to be 3D printed so you can have a personalized creation of the image you are uncovering and processing through. 

 

It is a fun and also profound way of engaging with the unconscious and meaning making process we all carry within us.
