Ecotherapy
Earth-Based Psychology, Foraging, and Rewilding
Service Description
Take some time to remember what it means to belong to the natural world and encounter yourself as a fellow being amongst a multitude of lives. Increase environmental interest. Develop spiritual ecology. Find your place in the responsibility of climate action. Uncover what is hidden under the stresses of modern life. Just be. The first premise of ecotherapy, is the recognition that you belong to the entirety of the ecosystems around you. You breathe, eat, drink, and move on a planet with a multitude of living beings and the rush of modern life facilitates us forgetting this simple and refreshing truth--you belong to it all. Whether it be out to a state park, walking in a forest persevere, or the trees standing audience to the streets, taking intentional time to bath in nature aids in regulating the nervous system and providing clarity. I work with clients and their unique relationship to the natural world. I often come across phobias, specism, and other states of separateness. With gracious invitations I will offer getting closer to the texture of a tree, attuning your ear to the sound of the breeze, or letting a bug craw on your finger. An eco-session with me will provide you the opportunity to forest bath. Noticing and soaking in the natural world aids in emotional regulation and relaxation. We will process through your sensations, gain more language for how your body is responding and attend to whatever may arise when you are away from the noise of your everyday life. A lot can be revealed in the timeless pace of the forest. You may find yourself entering into a childlike space when free playing with the nature around you. These sessions allow you to let go and breathe in what rich biodiverse areas work so hard to provide. If you are someone who struggles with Climate Anxiety, this time can be very special in getting in tune with what it is you care so deeply about. For climate activisits, this time can be of great rest and letting what you are making responsible choices for hold you and all that you carry. Anyone who needs to slow the pace of their life and are prepared to encounter what arrises when your nervous system is relaxed will find our time valuable. Lessons that arise when encountering plants, animals, and large open environments can help facilitate your inner process towards challenges that need your attention. Inner truths that are revealed can serve you as you enter again back into daily life.
